I hurt my shoulder Benching Pressing
So I work out hard. Its good for my brain and body and helps with depression. I usually don’t go heavy, and I usually don’t do flat bench press. BUT I started getting back into it. (My max in college was 365, check the books at NC State) Recently I worked up to 255. I pushed hard and on the left side, the bar hit the “rack” and kinda got hung up, so I kinda “winged” my arm out a bit and I felt a little pain in the front of my shoulder. Nothing crazy, maybe a little pop, but I felt pretty much fine, I finished working out my chest, and did another set at 260. After a few hours I noticed pain right on my AC joint (Acromio-Clavicular) joint. This joint is the connection (ligament) between the Clavicle (collar bone) and the Acromium process of the Scapula. Its basically the most prominent part of the front of the shoulder. Im pretty sure it ended up being a grade 1 AC Joint strain. It was hurting if I picked up heavy stuff, and it was sore in the morning (as shoulder injuries usually cause pain at night). It never woke me up or anything. I chilled on lifting chest and shoulders for a few weeks and I did some range of motion stuff and a few other exercises I picked up online. I tried to kinda sling-it, by holding my arm up by grabbing my right arm with my left hand. Its feeling about 85% now, and only hurts when I lift heavy on the bench. Ligaments connect bones. They have some give, depending on the joint and our health and other factors. When you strain a ligament, its like stretching a rubber band too far. So you want to kinda avoid doing that same stretch, or else the ligament will not heal properly. Passive range of motion is good. I took full spectrum CBD oil and other anti-inflammatories.
